There are a ton of home builder questions to ask when you embark on a home building project. Now unless the process is something you have gone through before, or if you have worked in the industry, you might feel clueless when confronting everything that accompanies the process. The easiest way to understand what you need to know is to ask the questions of your home builder.
There are many questions to ask a home builder, but let’s focus on four key questions. Also remember that there are no stupid questions. The more you know and communicate the happier you will be at the end of the project.
Home Builder Questions to Ask One
One of the questions to ask your home builder is about time lines. You should know when the work is set to finish, when it should reach each phase of construction, and you should keep abreast of any changes in that time line.
Home Builder Questions to Ask Two
Another of the important questions to ask your home builder is about money and financing. It is always a good idea of knowing where your money is going. Get an estimate before the project begins, and then keep informed of any changes that take place with the construction budget.
Home Builder Questions to Ask Three
Ask your home builder about their company. Getting to know the company you hire is very important. You are trusting these people with your time, money, and dreams, so it is only fitting you should know about them. Ask about the company history, and how long they have been in business. Ask them for references, or places where you can see examples of their work. Find out if there are any kinds of hidden costs, and how often they will directly visit the construction site. The more you know about your builders the better off you are.
Home Builder Questions to Ask Four
Ask your home builder about permits and zoning. Find out if you have to pay for all or some of these things before the construction start so you are not blindsided by costs later.
These are just are just the top four questions to ask your home builder. Other things to think about are warranties, move in dates, and about the construction crew as well. Any question that comes to mine is a good one to ask. They may be doing the work, but it is your money, and you must take advantage of your right to stay informed.
